14 sts = 4 in. (10 cm) over St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) with 2 strands held tog. BE SURE TO CHECK YOUR GAUGE.

Hat is worked with 2 strands held tog. Wind yarn into 2 balls before beg.
HAT With 2 strands of yarn held tog, cast on 60 sts. Divide sts evenly onto 4 needles. Join, being careful not to twist. Place marker for beg of rnd.

Rep Rnd 1 until piece measures about 5 1/2 in. (14 cm) from beg.
Next Rnd: *K19, k in front and then back of next st (increase made); rep from * twice – 63 sts.
Work in St st worked in the rnd (k every rnd) until piece measures 9 in. (23 cm) from beg.
Shape Crown Next Rnd: *K7, k2tog; rep from * around – 56 sts.
Knit 1 rnd.
Next Rnd: *K6, k2tog; rep from * around – 49 sts.
Knit 1 rnd.
Next Rnd: *K5, k2tog; rep from * around – 42 sts.
Knit 1 rnd.
Next Rnd: *K4, k2tog; rep from * around – 35 sts.
Knit 1 rnd.
Next Rnd: *K3, k2tog; rep from * around – 28 sts.
Knit 1 rnd.
Next Rnd: *K2, k2tog, rep from * around – 21 sts.
